Commodity Management within Materials and Procurement develops and implements plans to support forecasted needs for suppliers or commodities. We use our in-depth knowledge of foreign and domestic markets to negotiate supplier agreements and contracts with optimum pricing and terms. We also harness our understanding of commodity qualities, transportation options, risk management and supply chain evaluation models to develop optimal commodity management strategies.
Responsibilities
Support and drive the development of the global sourcing strategy for a given software category
-Develop deep understanding of internal spend, industry trends and best-in-class benchmarks
-Create multi-year vision to maximize value capture in the category for Dell
-Execute vision through key strategic initiatives
Lead and facilitate Software licensing activities for Dell Technologies
-Partner and advise business partners on potential suppliers, projected costs, supply-side risk, and compliance issues during the development of software offerings or funding activities
-Lead sourcing, contract and negotiation decisions including contract drafting where applicable with internal teams
-Drive development of business requirements and risk mitigation discussions with line of business stakeholders to optimize value and minimize risk in executed agreements
Manage Supplier Relationship for all Dell Business Units
-Lead supplier performance management process (e.g. EBRs, QBRs)
-Will be the escalation point for all areas of conflict with the supplier
-Ensure supplier is in compliance with all contractual requirements, as well as corporate, industry, and regional regulations
Requirements
Bachelors degree and 5+ years relevant procurement experience in the areas of negotiations, complex contracting, stakeholder management and sourcing strategy development with a focus on Software and SAAS categories
Demonstrated experience in identifying savings and cost reduction opportunities in contract negotiations, and developing and leading negotiating strategies to achieve those savings
Demonstrated sourcing and negotiation experience with major Software Suppliers
Analytical and problem solving skills
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to quickly understand and apply new concepts (i.e., pricing models, metrics, licensing models; contracting alternatives; policies, and procedures).
Excellent presentation skills
Preferences
Effective problem solving, analytical, quantitative and modeling skills
Ability to influence stakeholders across a wide and complex organization
Exposure to licensing intellectual property including the setup of optimal financial models (e.g., royalties, subscriptions, MDF, hosting, etc.) and understanding of assigning of licensing grants and software license constructs
